Caesalpinia  decapetala (Roth) Alston Ð Mysore thorn  Ð Fabaceae

Cedrela  spp. Ð Cedrela Ð Meliaceae

The eight species of Cedrela, indigenous to the New World tropics, produce oblong, five-valved, woody, winged capsules.  This is an example of trees that “get around”.  Though native to the New World these Cedrela capsules, with Job's tears and Ormosia seeds, appear in a necklace from Africa.

A thorny climber, Caesalpinia decapetala, native to tropical Asia, produces bean-like seeds that are a popular ÔbeadÕ in necklaces made in Kenya.
